FREE crochet headband pattern

This weeks free crochet pattern is another headband ear warmer.  They make such good stocking fillers and are a great way to use up left over yarn at the end of a project.  I’m really loving these at the moment as there’s so much you can do with them to make them individual and they’re a brilliant way of avoiding hat hair!

After making so many fox, wolf and teddy bear ear ones I was definitely up for something a little bit more girly so as usual I hit pinterest and found this super easy pattern for a crochet flower.

4 mm Hook

DK yarn in colours of your choice

darning Needle

Scissors

Button for flower centre

 

 

Pattern Notes

This pattern is written in American standard crochet terms.  Your first HDC in each row should be made in the same ST as your CH2.

HDC Half Double Crochet

CH Chain

 

TODDLER SIZE (1-2 YEARS)

R1                           CH12, HDC in third CH from hook.  HDC across remaining STs, CH2 turn work (10)

R2-33                     HDC in same ST as CH2,  HDC across, CH2 and turn work (10)

After R33 fold your work in half and work SS along the 2 edges to join them creating your band.  Fasten off and weave in ends.

 

TODDLER SIZE (2-5 YEARS)

R1                           CH12, HDC in third CH from hook.  HDC across remaining STs, CH2 turn work (10)

R2-38                     HDC in same ST as CH2,  HDC across, CH2 and turn work (10)

After R38 fold your work in half and work SS along the 2 edges to join them creating your band.  Fasten off and weave in ends.

 

CHILD SIZE (5-10 YEARS)

R1                           CH15, HDC in third CH from hook.  HDC across remaining STs, CH2 turn work (13)

R2-43                     HDC in same ST as CH2,  HDC across, CH2 and turn work (13)

After R43 fold your work in half and work SS along the 2 edges to join them creating your band.  Fasten off and weave in ends.

 

ADULT SIZE (10+ YEARS)

R1                           CH17, HDC in third CH from hook.  HDC across remaining STs, CH2 turn work (15)

R2-48                     HDC in same ST as CH2,  HDC across, CH2 and turn work (15)

After R48 fold your work in half and work SS along the 2 edges to join them creating your band.  Fasten off and weave in ends.

Make your flower using the link above in the colour of your choice and attach it to your headband.  Sew your button to the centre and you’re good to go!

Why not package them up for gifting?  There’s a free printable included in my fox ears pattern on etsy and it’s a bargain at only £1.20.  The front of the printable is blank so you can personalise it yourself and the reverse is as pictured.
